Did you by chance put a URL in updateURL the first time that was an invalid URL?

See: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=740378

It's another add-on, so you can just do a file->open file in Firefox and load it or drag and drop it onto Firefox.

Ok, now this is confusing. I regenerated it with the same settings (min=10, max=*) and this time the generated xpi loads and runs just fine!

So maybe a false alarm there? Sorry for any confusion!

Hi Mike

CCK runs fine, but the generated xpi won't load - it says it's not compatible with (in my case) Firefox 12.0 - I tried *, 12.*, 15, 15.0 in the max version.

FWIW, your current theme doesn't work with JS turned off (as it is the case in my Thunderbird), it says something about Mobile Safari's scripting being off. Take your time, though, it sounds like you have bigger issues to worry about at the moment; I can hack my way around it with adblock plus for now (... which amusingly I use more for stripping blog posts of excess UI elements than ads).

Ya, unfortunately there is a strange sort of developer arrogance about the changes they make in that they will rarely admit when they're wrong. Even when hundreds or thousands tell them so. It's sort of an elitist's attitude that they know better. I can't begin to tell you about the level of arrogance that I've encountered, it's unbelievable. The bad part is they so often make change for the sake of change instead of leaving well enough alone. I think they shsould focus on new functionality, but they seem to get off on reworking existing functionality instead.

When Firefox stopped supporting 3.6.xxxx, they lost me. I'm glad, because after a lot of research, I found that Firefox isn't as good as everybody thinks it is. I'm going to try Opera and see how it goes.

I knew there was a reason to use hidden, I couldn't remember. The problem with using hidden is in context menus where hidden will be overridden by Firefox. Is there something that will work for both?
